Who we are
Bank of the Sierra was incorporated under the laws of the State of California on September 14, 1977, and commenced operations as a California state-chartered bank on January 19, 1978.

Bank of the Sierra is currently the largest independent bank headquartered in Tulare County. With a focus on personal service, Bank of the Sierra is positioned as an independent bank serving the financial needs of individuals and businesses, including agriculture and real estate customers, in Tulare, Kings, Kern, and Fresno counties. The mission of Bank of the Sierra is, "To provide the highest return on equity to our shareholders consistent with sound banking practices."

Operations Assistant

Responsibilities include data entry and researching out of balance transactions. Miscellaneous job duties range from checking in work from all branches to filing bank documents. Individual must be a team player and display the competence to complete all responsibilities accurately and in a timely manner. Position located in Porterville.

Financial Services Representative

Responsibilities include opening new accounts, providing loan services, selling bank products, assisting customers with bank transactions, receive deposits, cashing checks, etc. Must be a quick learner and be able to perform multiple tasks while under pressure. Must be a people oriented person who enjoys working with the public. Strong communication skills required.

Loan Underwriter I or II

Candidate will provide loan underwriting, review, approval, administration, management reports, and clerical support regarding consumer loans/mortgage warehousing loans. Will perform the following duties based upon skills/years of job related experience but not limited to the following; reviews, evaluates, approves and/or denies credit authorizations of consumer loans including SFR mortgages, All-In-One SFR construction loans, SFR construction only, HELOC’s, home equity loans, installment loans, auto loans, prime lines and reserve lines. Prepare credit authorizations as instructed for mortgage warehouse borrowers. Determines if applicants meet Bank lending criteria and other duties as assigned.

Network Technician III

Candidate will implement, support, maintain and troubleshoot client systems including servers, peripherals, networking devices, communications systems and other hardware and software. Will serve as project leader for special projects as assigned. Projects will cover such areas as Windows and Linux systems, business applications, anti-virus protection, and email authentication administration. Candidate will assist with the daily operation of the network and networked applications ensuring that all systems are operating at proper levels, implement and support servers in a VMWARE, Novell eDirectory and Active Directory environment, troubleshooting and diagnosing networked applications problems and providing resolutions for problems. Linux skills strongly preferred, must have Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience, relevant certifications in areas of specialty including CCNA or CCNP, MCSE are a plus. Position located in Porterville.

Operations Manager Trainee

Responsibilities: Monitors, plans, organizes and controls all operational functions of the branch under the direct supervision of the Area Manager and indirect supervision of the Director of Bank Operations. Hire, train and supervise branch staff personnel. Completes operational reports. Handles customer inquiries and complaints. Ensures general ledger balancing and control on a daily basis. Maintains the daily operational function of the branch security system. Ensures good lobby/drive up and walk up teller coverage. Actively participates in relationship development activities. Performs other tasks as deemed necessary by the Area Manager. Management experience is a plus, 3-5 years branch experience preferred. Candidate must be able to accept any available opening within Kern County.

Candidate will be working in all areas of the SOS department. Must be a quick learner and able to perform multiple tasks while under pressure and have the ability to communicate, research and resolve inquiries and problems. Must have computer and 10-key skills and be proficient in Precision. .
