Bank of the Sierra Awards $5K Grant to the Ventura College Foundation

Porterville, CA – Bank of the Sierra announced $5,000 was awarded to the Ventura College Foundation through its Sierra Grant Program. The bank awards approximately 15-20 local organizations with $1000-$5000 in grants every quarter based on the specific needs of the organization.
The Ventura College Promise is a program offered through the Ventura College Foundation which gives hope to 1,000 underprivileged students each year by covering expenses for student enrollment, healthcare, and student center fees. The program has benefited 12,000 students with over $3 million in funding since 2006. A recent study revealed Ventura College Promise students are 70% more likely to receive certificates or degrees.
Kevin McPhaill, Bank President and CEO, expressed his compassion, “We are excited to be a part of such a great and meaningful initiative that provides education to those in need.” He added, “We are passionate about funding education programs that provide members of our community with opportunities for success in the future.”
