Bank of the Sierra’s Annual Resolution Run to Benefit Visalia Rescue Mission

Visalia, CA — Bank of the Sierra is pleased to announce its partnership with the Visalia Rescue Mission to help enhance the quality of life for Central Valley citizens in need. Bank of the Sierra will host their 2ndAnnual Resolution Run on January 1st, 2014. All proceeds from this event will go directly to help change lives in our community at the Visalia Rescue Mission.
“Many struggling Central Valley community members rely on the services of our local charities to help them through this economy,” said Jim Holly, Bank of the Sierra President and CEO. “We are delighted to assist our neighbors, and do our part, to help those in need,” continued Holly.

ABOUT VISALIA RESCUE MISSION
The Visalia Rescue Mission is a local non-profit organization which serves the local community by providing a homeless shelter for men, women and children; sleeps on average 180 people each night and serves three meals a day; 365 days a year. They are currently serving approximately 515 meals each day; over 183,000 meals in 2012!
Additionally, the Mission operates a nine month recovery program for men and women; that includes a mentoring program, life-skill training as well as a job internship programs. They rely heavily on volunteers from our local communities to support our work within a hurting sector of society. The VRM is funded entirely by donations from local businesses, organizations and individuals.
The Mission owns and operates Rescued Treasures Thrift Store on Mooney Blvd. and Simply Chic Boutique on Main Street, in Visalia, CA. All proceeds from these stored directly benefit the VRM. The Mission also has a Freed the Hungry Garden, Gym, as well as 4-plex transitional housing unit and Oval Park revamp in conjunction with the City of Visalia. We recently opened a new Community Center to benefit the local community and provide case management and counseling services; since its opening in September 2012, 100 individuals have found housing and been employed that were previously on the streets/homeless.
